Friday Night Lights, the Florida edition

One of the things I missed most when living abroad was the glow of high school lights on Friday Nights (don’t remind my Husb about the marathon sessions to watch every episode of the show by the same name while we lived in Delhi).

Mia, the littlest little, was so excited to cheer with the “big girls” at a recent high school football game, featuring two of the strongest rivals on this side of town. Strangely enough, her little cheer squad has Junior Coaches from both sides of the field!

American football may be a strange sport to many, but I won’t apologize for loving it. I love the sound of whistles, coaches yelling, plays being called and muddy jerseys.

(New to me was this tradition – the cheerleaders supporting their team by doing pushups … the same number of pushups for each point on the scoreboard)

My favorite part of high school football games? The marching band.

What’s your favorite sport? (participation or from the stands)

Naomi- Michelle Obama would love this! You’ve singlehandedly saved the youth of America… Great photos! Fun post (And, being from Texas, I can certainly identify with the FNL marathon!)

I love football too and in our house football takes over during the season. Akail and Austin played in high school, and every friday night was football in the fall. Austin played 2 years in college before transferring, and Akail had a chance to play to but decided to pursue a different career route. As much as I love football, I am glad they don’t play in college anymore, its’ scary with all the concussions. With that being said, I love football – thanks for reminding of the great tradition that happens every friday night in hometown America everywhere (and around the world). By the way, I remember when you fell in love with the sport with your oldest “little” started playing. Is he playing in college too? great post and photos.
